The Last 2 Months

I am currently living in Berlin.

I left Amsterdam in the end of August but the day after delivering my thesis I got accepted for an internship in Berlin. Leaving Amsterdam was strange, I made such good friends and got awesome memories. One year that I will never forget, specially the people that I got to get closer which I hope that they find time and money to come and visit me!

During September I made a short trip to Portugal. Going home felt kind of a shock but I really could not adjust to life there since in October I had to be in Berlin. So it was kind of an intermezzo period. I drove my brothers car (awesome!), went to the Avante! festival and of course, beach. As much as possible. I even went for a week to south of spain with my family for those typical vacations: sun, eat and sleep. I got my tan and gain some weight (which I lost now…). I spent most of my time with my family and friends but i left Portugal very early since I had to stop in Amsterdam to fly to Berlin. I found some cheap flights through the Netherlands and so spent a week there between flights, living in the center again.

Soon I realize that I was moving to a completely different city, embarking for a new experience. To be honest I knew no one in this city and that was a scary thought. No one to rely on or to just talk naturaly and feel confortable.

Thankfully, before leaving Portugal I met an amazing german girl and comarade, a friend of a great friend of mine. She put me in contact with her friends in Berlin and so I got a small chance of finding something. The first week in Berlin i lived in a friend of a friend’s house that I met in August in Amsterdam. Then, for the rest of the month I slept on a sofa/bed in the house of the friend’s of the german girl. Now, as I write, I finally got my own room in an amazing and beautifull old house int he party district of Berlin.

I moved from Friedenau to neukolln and now to the Kreuzberg. Just in front of the house there is this beautifull park with the only hill (berg) in the city.

I work 5 days a week, get a wage that allows me just to survive. My colleages are all great and young but when I go out at night I prefer to avoid them and meet other people. Usually I go out with the people I was living for basically the entire month which I became to be very fond off. Also with my flatmate now.

I am still exploring the city. I got no money for museums which is kind of sad. I am always saving money, I don’t use the public transport (they control like crazy here!) and avoid eating in bars or restaurants during work. Whenever I get the chance I go out with my bike to explore everything.

I love riding my bike, a fealing from Amsterdam that stays, yet it is not so safe here. I go to work every day by bike which is kind of risky sometimes.

Thus, after such a long absence I will now start to post pictures and thoughts of my experience in Berlin. I hope you enjoy them!
